Hello

I'm Hanna Zahorna - Ukrainian-Canadian artist and watercolor instructor living in Montreal. I was born in Kyiv, studied fine arts, and have spent many years working with different artistic media. My work has been exhibited in Ukraine, Canada and Europe and has found its way into private collections around the world.

Montreal gives me endless things to paint. I love its old buildings, busy streets, changing weather, and little corners that most people walk past without noticing. But I paint other subjects too, I'm curious about pretty much everything.

I like my paintings to feel alive. I work loosely, let the watercolor do some of its own thing (not always what I planned!), and try to capture the feeling of a place rather than every little detail. If you look at one of my cityscapes and feel like stepping inside for a walk, I've done my job.

I teach watercolor to everyone from complete beginners to experienced and professional artists. I also keep learning myself, taking masterclasses with internationally renowned watercolor artists and bringing what I learn back to my students. There's always another technique to try, and another idea I can't wait to paint!
